Surfed Out

I sit on my surf board
Waiting in the lineup
On the horizon is a wave
I start to paddle for the massive wave
I feel it pick me up and I pop up
Balancing on my board, gliding over the water
The fins cutting through the green of the ocean
I can smell fish in the distance
I can hear the screech of birds and the kids yelling
The lip is curling over
And the wave starts to break
I see a tombstone
Before I know it I nose dive
Submerged in the ice cold water
I can feel my wet-suit filling with water
There are waves crashing all around me
I pull my leash towards me
And paddle through the whitewash
Paddling over the greater force
Of the ocean, Never to be
Surfed Out

Hidden My Magnetic poem

Frantic whisper of a gorgeous boy
Smell of moonlight rain
Summer symphony of sun
Crushed beneath the shadows
Picturing the light
The music shines
A rose garden of diamonds
Yet to be harvested

I Have Seen Responses

I read You Can’t Defend Yourself which was written by Cheyenne Bailey. I think that this poem is about depression. The line “nails painted blacks” creates imagery of jet black nails. There is also alliteration in the line “I have pestered and poked until no one can bear it.” I think that in the first stanza the line “I have made people kill through my hurtful whisper” means that depression can lead people to kill themselves. In the next stanza every line starts with “I watch..” I think that she used this because it shows what depression sees, plus the repetition shows how often depression happens. In the next stanza I wonder why Cheyenne used the word “expressed.” I like how she brings up the idea that depression is unstoppable and that it knows what it is doing, personifying depression.
In the fourth stanza, every line starts with “I’d rather...” I think that this shows how depression would anything but itself. I wonder why Cheyenne chose to use the words quicker, wind, dark, and truthful? What does it mean for depression to become quicker, and truthful? In the last stanza there is alliteration in the line “I will pester and poke at you” I think that this line means that depression can nag on you until you finally give. This stanza shows how some people can’t stop feeling like that and the depression just pulls them down until they can’t get up

The other poem I read is called Endless Shadows Hovering Over Deppression by Noa Riemann. I think that this poem is told in the point of view of sadness. The first line in this poem is “I have seen clouds for as long as i can remember” I think that this line shows the idea of time for an abstract noun such as sadness. This line gives imagery of sadness looking up at the sky only to see a blanket of clouds. In the next stanza she says
Trapped in this soulless figure
Craving happiness
Seeking light
Just a goal
Just a dream
I think that this stanza has a really good rhythm to it. She uses the words Trapped, Craving, and Seeking which all relate to trying to get what you want and need. I think that the line “I send my thoughts to light” shows how sadness would feel hoping that it could be a happy thing rather than something people dread.
Throughout the poem Noa compares sadness to clouds and rain. I really like the line “A maze engraved with bad memories” it shows imagery and it is a metaphor. The next line is “As hatred raps around me” I think that this is a clever play on words because in many rap songs the speak of sadness and hate. I think that this shows how people don’t like sadness. The line “Trying to cut through these ropes” gives me the imagery of confinement and a cage. In the next stanza the line “But instead I see endless mirrors behind my dark thoughts” creates imagery of an endless row of mirrors. I think that she chose this because mirrors reflect images so if sadness has dark thoughts it can see rows and rows of it. In the last stanza it denies that there is something. The last line “This feeling where only a smile can free me.” is really great. To me it means that although sadness can sometimes take over your body, if you just smile things could get better.

Braggin' Rap

I'm here to tell you about Greta Grace
Busting out the math all over the place
I got a 4.0 GPA and a beautiful face
All the other kids look to me to set the pace

Everyone knows me and my friends
Cause we're the ones setting the trends
I don't mean to offend
but my homework's done before the night ends

I may seem crazy
And I probably am
But I'm definitely not lazy
And I'm happy as a clam

I can play the guitar
So stuff your mean in a jar
I'm ready if you are
Cause I'm the real star

I can't really rhyme
But look we're out of time
Yo this is me
And I've got the key

Limericks

 The House of Gold
There once was a girl from Lold
Who had her home sold
She ran out of her house
Scared of a mouse
Only to find the house was made of gold

The Growing Finger
There once was a man whose finger would grow
The doctors tried everything they know
They tested his blood
It turned out to be mud
Sadly they could never stop the flow

The Llama named Bill
There once was a llama named Bill
He always sat on the window sill
Staring at the trees
Scared of the bees
Avoiding his job at the mill

Never Satisfied

I have seen many people jump
Their deepest dream finally come true
The human mind set to a cause, working on what they want
I have felt the way that they have felt
United with the souls that have done the same
But sadly knowing, the feeling won’t last
I have heard the cries of wishes come true
But I feel so deceiving as it won’t last

I send myself through cities and towns
To try to find the thing I've lost
Just when the search is over I lose it again
And another sadness stricken destination calls to me
Spread across the world like butter on toast
I try but fail, for I haven’t enough for the crust

I’d rather be like water seeping slowly through the world
Able to reach the smallest crevice
No person let down, No hide and seek
I’d rather be like fire, spread with the hint of flame
Once started unable to stop

I know that I am appreciated
Spread by the wind, their thoughts surround me
Like a bird I fly over them watching their emotions
The white light of deep satisfaction
I can not please all, for some are left with muddy brown disappointment
So a travel through turquoise oceans and emerald forest to help the most desperate

I say to myself that I will not fail
But haunting me like a ghost is the notion
That people may feel the darkness
Rather than fight the darkness, I spread the light
Hoping that others will know how I feel
But something deep inside me ask
Is it possible?
